B2 Post production diary

During the beginning stages of creating my first print ad, I begun with this very simple draft. It features a picture that I took of Roker Pier with the the short text that reads 'Regional Identity' in the default Photoshop font, 'Arial'.

In the image shown above, I have experimented with a different font as well as adding a border around the edges of the print.

While experimenting with my print ad, I decided to try an overlay by choosing a sun image from google and pasting it onto my Photoshop project.

I experimented with the 'Linear Dodge (add)' blending mode in 'Layers'

These were some of the responses that I received on my feedback form

This feedback told me that the improvements that I needed to make involved playing around with the colours and balance, making the font more clear as well as making the shine less bright.

I also experimented with another overlay.

This is another example of a light overlay that I imported from Google.

I resized it to my liking and then, proceeded to adjust the opacity.

When reflecting upon the feedback, I could see that 66.7% of people believed that my Final Product was an improvement from my draft product. As you can see, I have adjusted the brightness of the image as this was the main topic of criticism that I received. In addition to this, I added the Sunderland Culture logo.

Instead of the phrase 'Regional Identity', I decided to include a slogan that would encourage viewers to visit Sunderland

I experimented with many different fonts after having implemented my 'Explore Sunderland' slogan.

I was not a fan of the font shown above, so I eventually settled on 'Cambria' as shown below.

This was my final product.
For my second print ad, I decided that Fulwell Mill was a good location to use.
